Characteristics

A ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE is a mortar for creating subfloors, Self-Leveling Mortar or regularizing and leveling layers on concrete bases. It has high resistance and adhesion, and provides a smooth finish. Quick and easy application. It is recommended for leveling surfaces, for subsequent application of vinyl, ceramic or porcelain floors.

Use

ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE can be used to restore and level concrete surfaces and subfloors, in internal areas. It can be used for applications up to 10 mm thick.

Not recommended for

  • Applications on wood, metal, ceramics, porcelain and painted surfaces;
  • Overlapping laminate floors, vinyl floors and natural stones;
  • Sloped floor surfaces;
  • Areas with vehicle circulation and subject to intense traffic;
  • Outdoors;
  • Areas with permanent humidity due to capillarity;
  • Be directly exposed without protection from coatings or paint.

Composition

Portland cement, mineral aggregates and special additives.

Color

Gray

Yield

Approximately 2.0 kg/m²/mm thick.

Quantities may vary depending on the porosity and regularity of the surface to be applied and the type of application.

Storage

It must be stored in a dry and ventilated place, on a platform elevated from the ground, in stacks no more than 1.5 m high, and in its original closed packaging.

Validity

ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE is valid for 24 months from the date of manufacture printed on the packaging, if storage conditions are respected.

Packaging

Plastic packaging weighing 18 kg.

Surface preparation

The surface that will receive the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE must be firm and in good condition, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease, paint or any other residue that could impair the product’s adhesion. Concrete surfaces with excess release agent must be brushed well and washed to promote adhesion of the material. The surface that will receive the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE must be firm, with no hollow sound. If you present this pathology, you must undergo prior treatment. Cracks and fissures must be treated and stabilized, as they may reappear on the surface of the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE. On painted surfaces, it is necessary to scrape and wash to remove all the paint on the surface. If there are problems with rising damp or the possibility of future damp, it must first be waterproofed with SELAMIX. Larger imperfections and wear on the floor cannot be greater than 5 mm in depth. If present, they must be previously corrected with MASSA DE ASSENTAMENTO MCMV, facilitating the leveling of the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE.

Subfloors must be washed with a high pressure washer to remove loose particles and must be cured for at least 14 days. New concrete surfaces must be cured for a minimum of 28 days. In thicknesses from 4 mm, at the points of contact between the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE and baseboards, walls, equipment bases, ends, it is necessary to place strips of polyethylene blanket or sealing tape, to form a joint and prevent the appearance of cracks . It is also important to respect the existing expansion joints and create fractionation joints every 25 m².

We recommend applying the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE at an ambient temperature between 5ºC and 35ºC and a surface temperature between 5ºC and 27ºC. It is important to insulate untreated metal parts, as they may stain when in contact with the product. Before starting to apply the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE, the surface must be thoroughly wetted, avoiding puddles.

Product preparation

Add the amount of water necessary to prepare the product to a clean container. It is recommended that the mixing container does not have protrusions and sharp corners at the bottom to avoid accumulation of material during mixing. Dilute 18 kg of ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE in approximately 5.5 liters of water. Higher or lower dosages of water can directly interfere with the final quality of the product. Add the product little by little to the water and mix with a mechanical stirrer for 3 to 5 minutes, until you obtain a fluid, homogeneous mass, without lumps, ideal for application. The non-homogeneous mixture when preparing the product can cause cracks and imperfections after drying. Use the entire contents of a package, and they should not be divided into portions for preparation. Once the product has been prepared, it must be applied immediately. It is important to use the product within a maximum of 30 minutes and do not add water or any other product after preparation.

Application

It is important, before starting to apply the ARGAMASSA AUTONIVELANTE, to wet the surface well, avoiding puddles. Then apply the newly prepared product to the surface, starting from the corners. Spread with the leveling squeegee or toothed squeegee to the desired thickness. Then use a bubble roller to help remove air and provide better leveling and finishing. It is important that the time interval between launching the product and using the bubble roller does not exceed 15 minutes. This time can be reduced depending on the absorption of the base and weather conditions. After drying, small corrections can be made with the product itself. If it is necessary to apply more than one layer of the product, wait 2 days apart and carry out the same preparation procedure, wetting the surface before application. It can also be sanded after drying to provide the desired finish, taking care to thoroughly clean the surface.

Important

  • Carry out a complete inspection of the application before installing the coating, checking the resistance and adhesion of the product to the base, and whether there is a hollow sound when hitting the surface. These problems can be caused by improper application, excess water or incorrect curing of the product.
  • Wait 48 hours for light traffic release and coating laying (this may vary depending on product drying conditions, thickness, temperature and ventilation) and 72 hours for moderate traffic release.
  • It is important not to expose the application to sun, rain or excessive wind during drying.
  • After drying, the application must not be exposed and must be applied to vinyl, ceramic or porcelain floors.
